Governor Ortom charges security agents to rescue kidnapped cleric

Benue state Governor, Samuel Ortom, today charged security agencies in the state to do everything possible to rescue Reverend Father John Adeyi, the Vicar General of Catholic Diocese of Otukpo and also arrest his kidnappers.

He disclosed while briefing journalists at the end of a security meeting that he gave the directive during the meeting which had just ended at the Benue Peoples House.

The Governor said he was worried that the Rev Father who was kidnapped two weeks ago has not being found or culprits apprehended.

“We are worried that for two weeks the perpetrators have not being apprehended and arrested and the security agencies have not been able to secure the release of the Rev Father,” he stated.

“I have to summon this meeting and I have given directives to the security agencies to move out and do more work to ensure that the Rev Father is released.’’

According to him, no stone would be left unturned to ensure that the perpetrators of the evil were apprehended.

The Governor also directed the security agents to investigate the allegation of the killing off of herds belonging to Fulani and herders from Nasarawa state saying it was capable of interfering with the peace that was returning to the state.

‘’We want to know the truth and if for any reason anyone is known to be a perpetrator of crossing over to Nasarawa state and causing this harm and destruction, he is going to be apprehended and the law will take its course,” stressed.

On the killing of commercial motorcyclists in Makurdi recently, the Governor said two of the culprits have been apprehended and are currently under interrogation adding that they would be prosecuted.
